February 21 -- Investigators are looking into the possibility that alcohol played a role in a bizarre death in Baldwin County. NBC-15's Mike Rush reports a Foley woman died a horrible death when she fell on her open oven. It's a tragedy neighbors in this Foley community find hard to comprehend. "I said it's either, of course, murder, it's an accident or someone committed suicide." "Her husband came home and found her... Her face was burned." 52-year-old Rebecca Richardson, killed in her kitchen, police say after she fell on her stove. Lt. David White with the Foley Police Department gave NBC 15 News these details: "It appears she did fall on the door of the stove. The weight of her body basically tipped the stove over and pinned her between the body of the stove and the door of the stove." Pinned, unable to breath... and, police say, burned on her head and upper body because the oven was on. "It's not something many of us think about, but it doesn't take much pressure in the right place to tip an oven. That's why brackets are available. They fasten to the floor and then the leg of the oven slides in. "> Police don't think Richardson's stove had a bracket. The Home Depot in Foley says they come with the models they sell... and Home Depot's Donna Sanders says the brackets are installed on the floor models. "You know playing in the kitchen or whatever you could go along and open a door, whether it's being used or not, and tip it over. So, the purpose of having that bracelet is definitely a life saving thing." Foley Police are also investigating the possibility alcohol could have contributed to the fall, but they're waiting for toxicology reports to make the final call. Whatever the results, it won't change the terrible ending... something that saddens Lois Barnes, a neighbor of the victim, Rebecca Richardson. "It is so sad. It breaks my heart to think that someone would die like that, you know, with no one to help them or anything." Foley Police say Richardson was alone at the time of the accident. Her husband found her later that same day upon his return to home.
