      WALKERTON, IND. -- A Starke County man accidentally shot and killed 
      himself while getting out of his truck with a loaded shotgun Tuesday.
      Charles Brownlee Sr., 53, of Koontz Lake was leaving his truck when the 
      shotgun he was carrying discharged a deer slug into his head, state 
      conversation officers said.
      Brownlee was pronounced dead at the scene at the accident near Walkerton, 
      about 20 miles southwest of South Bend.
      Investigators believe Brownlee had pulled off a road to shoot a deer.
